Calméjane Yves

His art

Yves Calméjane’s representational landscape paintings are in the true tradition of Provençal painting. The artist found his own style while studying masterpieces and spending time with many other artists in their workshops in the South of France. “This lengthy intuitive journey has led me to dream of a world where art is viewed and created in an entirely different way…”, he said in the introduction to his book Secret.

Brimming with Nature’s gifts, his canvases hint at impressionism in their rendering. The thick strokes seem to melt into humble landscapes in a somewhat spirited manner. And the plain colors radiate simplicity. An inner light permeates his paintings like a presence.

Yves Calméjane paints from life, grinds his pigments and coats his own paintings.
